Ph.D. Position – Turbulence Visualization

One Ph.D. position (supervision by Professor Westermann) is available at our chair in the area of flow visualization for the analysis of turbulent superstructures. 

Turbulence Visualization

Research in this project includes the development of techniques for extracting relevant features from time-varying vector and scalar fields, and their interactive visualization on GPUs. It is aimed to extract multiscale features such that transport boundaries and particle trajectories. Visualization includes advanced techniques time-varying features and their tracking over time.

If you are interested in applying, you should have a strong background in computer science, including the fields of scientific visualization and GPU programming, have experience implementing C/C++ algorithms, and you should be excited to work on state-of-the-art research in the 3D visualization. Good English skills are also a plus.

The position is a full time position, with payment and benefits according the German public service positions (TV-L E13, 100%).

Bachelor and Master thesis in the following areas:
- A remote rendering system for point cloud data (in collaboration with industry)

- Learning Level-of-Detail representations for point clouds
